When SpeedVideo.com launched earlier this year, the goal was to revolutionize the way racing was broadcast to fans around the world. The programming team at SpeedVideo is constantly working on ways to improve the user experience based on what the consumer really wants. After hearing from the fans, SpeedVideo has launched a new version this week that’s overflowing with cutting edge features, and will provide drag racing fans with a truly unique viewing experience.
The goal of the new SpeedVideo website is to create an environment that users can enjoy on multiple devices and platforms in the new digital age.
“We wanted a new live streaming experience that works seamlessly for mobile, tablet, computers and even living room television sets for anybody who views a SpeedVideo event,” Rolando Garcia, Senior Director of Technology and Platform explains.
To help build a deep user experience, the SpeedVideo development team looked for ways to provide viewers ways to see more than just the live event. “A section for news about our partnerships with event organizers for future events has been added to the site, so fans can see what’s on the horizon at SpeedVideo. An easy to navigate on-demand section of all past events has also been added, so users can watch hours and hours of action, or just event highlights if they prefer,” Garcia says.
If that wasn’t enough, the latest version of SpeedVideo received these incredible features:
“We are pleased to offer fans the ability to see great events happening at racing events all over the country. The ability to give our fans options to watch on any device they prefer, from any location, so they never have to miss any of the action is something we really worked hard on for this release,” Garcia explains.
Make sure to check out the new Speedvideo.com to see all the new features, and watch the first broadcast on the new platform August 19-20th when all the action at Outlaw Armageddon – The Second Coming goes live!
There are few events on the drag racing calendar that boast a bigger worldwide following than the legendary Haltech World Cup Finals — Import vs. Domestic. Frankly, it’s an event you need to attend in person to really be able to understand what a crazy, exciting show it is,” Lawrence continued. “But we also realize, not everyone all over the world is going to be able to attend MDIR that weekend. Now, they will be able to experience it in full high-definition, and our team is as excited about this event than any event on our schedule. It’s going to be a monster.”

Founded in 2006, Power Automedia has become a significant player when it comes to automotive publishing, producing 12 digital car and truck magazines that reach more than 1.8 million readers each month.
Recently, California CEO Magazine featured James Lawrence, Power Automedia’s CEO in a recent article and video, recognizing it as an innovative, high-tech business that has created a niche for the automotive enthusiast.
One might think Power Automedia is stationed with headquarters in a large metropolitan city, but its roots are in fact planted in a quiet town just an hour north of San Diego on the borderline of Temecula’s wine country.
In the article, the author describes the key to Power Automedia’s success: It starts with a culture that is built around the importance of the team on which every single employee plays a role and is responsible for the development of the culture.
“When you start taking a hand and a personal sense of responsibility for the culture, that is the underpinnings of building a special place to work … employees feel they are playing an important role in the success of the business itself,” Lawrence said.
Power Automedia’s rich editorial content helps to drive and support its clients and the aftermarket industry, while also catering to car and truck enthusiasts as consumers, builders, and dreamers.
MURRIETA, Calif. — To better align content with Power Automedia’s business model, and with the interests of our readers, LSX TV is rebranding into LSX Magazine, with a logo and URL change to LSXMag.com within the next 30 to 60 days. In addition, the company will welcome Chase Christensen as the new editor of LSX Magazine in May.
“When Power Automedia launched in 2006, internet video was exploding onto the market, and we wanted to create a website that was intensely video-oriented for automotive enthusiasts,” said James Lawrence, president of Power Automedia. “What we discovered is the definite need and desire by our audience for LS content, but it wasn’t just video.”
The company determined the name update to LSX Magazine would be simple, and would honor the heritage of its original name. It will continue to offer the same feature and technical articles, event coverage, and videos that have been integral to our content for years. The name shift also takes the confusion out of what we do. LSX Magazine is part of the Power Automedia family of digital magazines, dedicated to bringing readers the best automotive content 24/7.
“Power Automedia has always been a company that has adapted to meet the demands of its audience in terms of providing content,” Lawrence sid. “Changing the name of LSX TV to LSX Magazine cements that we are the go-to source for late model GM tech and advice.”
The LS engine will remain a vital player in the performance world for decades to come. No engine, since the introduction of the small-block Chevy in the 1950s, has enjoyed such huge success and cult-like status with enthusiasts around the world. LSX Magazine will continue to focus on hardcore tech for late model GM vehicles — specifically fifth-gen, late model Camaros, and other late-model GM vehicles. We also will continue coverage that highlights LS swap tech for everything from classic musclecars, to the unusual and seldom seen LS swap vehicles. With GM’s fifth-generation small-block LT series currently in production, LSX Magazine will also focus on the latest in LT engine tech.
Power Automedia publishes continues to focus exclusively on producing digital automotive content through its 12 digital magazines. the company partners with the most respected names in the automotive aftermarket and is an innovator in digital media and advertising reaching more than 1.8 million readers each month.
Welcome to the Power Automedia Tech Center
At Power Automedia, we do not just have a fully operational shop onsite, we have a complete shop that can handle just about anything, ranging from simple K&N installs to new brakes, custom rollcages, full suspension upgrades, complete restorations, and full race car builds. We literally can do it all.
Through trusted, and valued relationships, with almost every major manufacturer in the automotive aftermarket, we often receive parts before they are available to the public. In addition, our facility is occasionally tapped by manufacturers to assist in the final stages of R&D initiatives.
How Do Our Clients Benefit From Our Tech Center?
Teamed with four highly experienced technicians and fabricators, with more than 50 years of combined experience, the Tech Center exists solely to support editorial efforts, our clients, and advertisers. We work only on project cars owned by Power Automedia, its employees, or on privately-sourced vehicles that serve a definitive purpose to meet client-driven objectives.
This is a clear advantage over many other shops who may need to juggle a myriad of repairs from the public that also competes for the valuable time of our technicians. At Power Automedia, your schedule is our schedule. We do not accept outside business, or perform repairs or services for the general public.
Because our technicians are dedicated to in-house projects, this positions us as experts in professional staging. This is key, as in addition to its operation as a state-of-the-art Tech Center, the shop also serves another vital function as our onsite video and photography studio.
Having our own production facility means that we have greater control over every repair, install, or rebuild required to produce award-winning videos, commercials, photography, and editorial content.

What makes a “good” company culture? This is a question that has been asked by countless business owners and employees, especially over the last several years, as that phrase has become somewhat of a buzzword in corporate lingo. Building something special through company culture, however, goes much deeper at Power Automedia.
Many people may have a sense of company culture, but have a hard time defining it. If you spend some time researching the term, you will find a lot of different perspectives. Company culture has been described as “just the way we do things,” the “personality” of the company, the company mindset, or — one of my favorites — what we do when we think nobody is looking. The truth is that culture is different at every company, so these definitions can all be true.
There is often a belief that the culture of a company is just something that exists on its own, independently of the team — that one can just arrive and participate, and it will always be what it is. At Power Automedia, we disagree. We look at culture as a constantly evolving entity that is shaped daily by the team that we work with.
Culture doesn’t create itself, but it will certainly exist at every company. For culture to be healthy, it has to be nurtured by the entire company, from top leadership down to the newest team member. And, as such, we have to be thoughtful about the kind of culture we want to foster and create.
How can we balance all of the things we want to embody? How can we be fun and take our jobs seriously at the same time? How can we create a culture of hard work and determination, while still respecting the needs of an employee’s life outside of our office walls?
We start by using our “why” as the guiding light to creating a healthy company culture, one that is not based off of the idea of perfection, but rather the things that we believe are vital to our expression of why we do what we do:
Additionally, we work to stay connected with each other. We have a party planning committee (PPC) with members from every department working together to plan several monthly activities, both inside the office and out. It can be as silly as a ‘90s dress-up day, or an event that takes advanced planning, such as our annual Power Automedia Olympics.
As I am writing this, our team is getting ready to participate at an indoor karting facility for a healthy dose of competition and go-kart races. We do these activities, not to just create a place to work that is “fun,” but because we genuinely believe that on top of the hard work, fun is vital to relationships, communication, and family spirit.
And, fun isn’t the only way we are connecting. Whether it is an annual call for input and ideas from all employees, to our monthly newsletters and All Hands Meetings, we consistently look for opportunities to ensure that all Power Automedia employees play a role in the culture, and the roadmap of our company.
Power Automedia is only as strong as its people, and their investments in our message. At our most recent annual State of the Company Address (a day-long session of presentations about company performance, future planning, and yes, fun) James Lawrence, company president, summed up our philosophy very well:
What is Power Automedia Really About:
And that is truly why Power Automedia exists, and how we all feel, collectively, about building something special.
SpeedVideo.com, in conjunction with drag racing magazine, Dragzine.com, will live broadcast the original, and world’s’s biggest No Prep race, the highly-anticipated Outlaw Armageddon in Thunder Valley, Oklahoma. The event is sponsored by Triple Diamond Construction.
“We are extremely excited to be able to partner with SpeedVideo.com to bring our event to the Internet,”said Thunder Valley’s Nick Duty. “Just as Outlaw Armageddon revolutionized No Prep Racing last year, SpeedVideo.com will help us take the event to another level for our fans.”
“The demand to have Outlaw Armageddon available for live broadcast has been overwhelming,” said SpeedVideo.com’s James Lawrence. “Not only will fans be able to watch round-by-round coverage, but they will also have inside access to the driver’s meeting, and instant replay’s of action on the track. This will be the closest you can be to the excitement without sitting in the stands.”
“The inaugural event was amazing, but ‘Outlaw Armageddon The Second Coming’ promises to be bigger and better,” Duty said. “We have more than doubled the purse to over $80,000 and given every racer in the country the opportunity to be part of one of the largest heads-up races in 2016 by entering one of our four classes. We have opened the competition up to include 200 racers.”
Not only will this race bring together the toughest racers in the country, but it will be done in the heart of the legendary 405 with a flashlight start. The inaugural event was an overwhelming success, with more than 18,000 fans from 38 different states packing the grandstands. For this year’s event, track and the promoters vowed to go bigger and better. The race has been expanded to include Big Tire and Small Tire Invitational races, along with the popular “Race Your Way In” class, and Outlaw Street and True Street classes.
In 2016, fans voiced their opinions on which drivers should be included in both Invitational classes, and with more than one million votes cast, the lineup is even more amazing than last year. Not only have all of the favorites returned to the lists — including Big Chief, Murder Nova, Daddy Dave, Boosted GT, Doc, and Monza — but fans have added such names as Jeff Lutz, Larry Larson, Petey Smallblock, Brian “Chucky” Davis, Mike Murillo, and James “Birman” Finney to the lineup.
The tagline for the event is: “Often Imitated, But Never Duplicated,” because nothing can compare to being deep in the 405, in the cozy confines of Thunder Valley Raceway, with unprecedented access to the baddest racers in the world.
Show up in Thunder Valley to experience it all first hand, or tune in August 19-20, 2016 to Speedvideo.com and Dragzine.com to watch the live broadcast presentation of Outlaw Armageddon. For more event information, visit www.outlawarmageddon.com.
