For over ten years, Power Automedia’s video production team has been building beautiful content for the automotive industry. For 2017, they’ve got a fresh name that reflects their commitment to take the company to the next level: Alloy Studios.

Alloy Studios combines creative passion with a pragmatic approach to building efficient and effective videos of every flavor. From lifestyle videos, editorial, social, educational, corporate, to viral videos, they will apply the same formula.

“We are very proud to be a part of the Power Automedia family, but the time has come to have our individual identity so there is no confusion that we work for all types of clients,” explained Alloy Studios General Manager, Steve Grein. “In the past, some had the impression that we exclusively produce video for our internal projects and that couldn’t be further from the truth. We are excited for our new name, new look and fresh start. An alloy is multiple metals that come together to make one strong force, and that is exactly what we do here.”

“Power Automedia has produced video content from day one,” explained Power Automedia CEO James Lawrence. “The time has come for Alloy Studios to stand alone. We have an amazingly creative team here at Alloy Studios including Justin Jones, Brandon McCray, Vu Pham, Paul Huizenga, Eric Schumacher, and Jon Fraser who are our lead videographers and producers. If all of our clients could see the quality of the filming work these guys do, I’m convinced we’d be working twenty four hours a day. The quality of the work is one thing, but we’re efficient. That’s something you couldn’t traditionally say with quality video production and filmmaking.”

Power Automedia will be announcing this change and rebrand at the 2016 SEMA Show. The new website will be www.alloy-studios.com and is expected to launch in Q1 2017.

Turner_Shelby GT350

Power Automedia has announced plans to expand its popular all-Ford magazine StangTV into two new magazines: FordMuscle and FordNXT. To lead the new titles, Power Automedia has also hired magazine industry veteran Steve Turner as Executive Editor.

“I’ve known Steve Turner for more than 15 years, and you’re not going to find a more experienced, dedicated editor,” said James Lawrence, Power Automedia CEO. “He has invested a good portion of his working life in knowing the Ford and Mustang market inside and out, and we couldn’t be more proud than to have him on the team.”

“Power Automedia is expanding our modern Ford and Ford musclecar performance offerings so readers can see more of what they want, and less of what they don’t,” explained Scott Parker, Power Automedia’s Director of Content & Strategy. “Power Automedia’s existing magazine, StangTV.com, will expand into FordNXT.com—a magazine targeted to the next generation of Ford Performance, including Coyote, 2011-up Mustangs, Ecoboost, Raptors, and more. It’s for today’s Ford technology.”PAM-News-Thumbnail-2

FordMuscle.com, on the other hand, will cater to traditional Ford performance—Fox Mustangs and earlier, more traditional Ford hot rods. It will feature engine tech ranging from pushrod 5.0-liters to Three-Valve and earlier Modulars. Both magazines will be go-to sources for all things Ford; tech articles, car features, event coverage, the latest industry news, and the scoop on the newest and hottest products.

Turner is a graduate of the University of Central Florida and has over 20 years of experience in the industry, most notably working for Super Ford, Focus Fanatic, and as the editor of 5.0 Mustang & Super Fords. Most recently, he helped create and launch a digital content platform for SVTPerformance.com, where he served as Editor-in-Chief for the last two and a half years.

“I am looking forward to working with the dynamic and innovative team at Power Automedia,” Turner said. “The team is driven by a passion for cars and they are always looking for a better way to spread that enthusiasm via online magazines, social media, and video. We will develop FordNXT and FordMuscle into the number-one sources for Ford performance enthusiasts to get their fix.”

NMRA

With over a quarter million views to date, SpeedVideo’s live broadcast of the NMRA Drag Racing World Finals delivered on its promise as the largest live stream video in NMRA history.

This event took place at Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and is the most popular all-Ford drag race and car show of the year, where you can spot everything from 3,000+ horsepower turbocharged beasts to street legal racecars. Spectators enjoyed all-day entertainment thanks to the races, burnout contest, car show, swap meet, vendor booths, and even special appearances from TV star BoostedGT and 14-time drag racing champion Mike Murillo.

This year, four records were broken at the World Finals and it drew over 450 racecars and 490 show cars, resulting in the largest NMRA event in over 18 years- and it needed a video crew of equal capabilities to stream it to multiple media outlets.screen_shot_2016-10-13_at_2.09.56_pm_720 copy

“We were delighted to get the opportunity to work with the NMRA…it’s a first-class organization,” said Steve Grein, General Manager, SpeedVideo. “With the support of ProCharger, we did the live broadcast with a five-camera shoot, including dual wireless starting line cameras, and the broadcast went off without a hitch. Not only did we broadcast it live to SpeedVideo.com and StangTV.com, but also simultaneously on Facebook. It’s great to see hundreds of thousands of Ford fans all over the world that enjoyed watching the event.”

“SpeedVideo’s live broadcast was a huge promotional tool for the event. They provided great coverage of the event the entire time, and great follow up videos afterward,” said Rollie Miller, NMRA General Manager. “It really helped build the NMRA brand and spread awareness to the public of the NMRA.”

Up next for SpeedVideo is the of the 21st Annual World Cup Finals: Import vs. Domestic which will be streaming live November 4th through the 6th on speedvideo.com.

Power Automedia has recently been using Facebook’s new live stream video feature, Facebook Live, to explode the audiences of SpeedVideo and it’s twelve online magazines.

There has been a 616 percent growth in mobile video consumption since 2012 and, studies show, people watch videos three times longer when they are being recorded live. There’s no denying this media trend will only increase in popularity from this point.

SpeedVideo.com – Power Automedia’s live broadcast division – has utilized Facebook live to “stream” automotive events to success – reaching over 200,000 viewers on Facebook alone with the 2016 Outlaw Armageddon No-Prep Drag Race at Thunder Valley Raceway Park. In addition, they received over 15,000 shares just on Facebook alone within a week of the event.

Power Automedia employee Dave Cruikshank, Editor of Corvette Online, has leveraged Facebook Live with recent show coverage, some reaching over 4,000 viewers at a time.

“I utilized Facebook Live at two of the biggest Corvette shows in the world and had fantastic results,” Cruikshank said. “The best part about Facebook Live is that it really engages the audience and lets them interact with what they’re experiencing. The comments section literally comes alive with feedback and emoticons. It was great to be able to tailor my shoot to what people wanted. Traffic to CorvetteOnline.com and Facebook boomed as a result.”

Just recently, the editors of Turnology, EngineLabs and LSX Magazine have seen the impact. Trevor Anderson of Turnology gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at Bruce Meyer’s private car collection in Los Angeles. “I have a goal of using Facebook Live to establish relationships with my readers and to provide a face to associate with my magazine,” Anderson said. This gives great opportunity to businesses like Power Automedia to connect with their fans, have engaging conversations, and get to know their audience on a personal level– all while reaching new audiences as well. Plus, we get a lot of referral traffic to our magazines as a result of the live experience.”

One thing is clear – the use of Facebook live has been a hit for Power Automedia and SpeedVideo.

Power Automedia has acquired the assets of long-time Ford magazine FordMuscle from its founder Chirag Asaravala, and is preparing an ambitious expansion in the Ford market. A new FordMuscle logo has been designed by Power Automedia reflective of the power of the FordMuscle brand and a modernization of the magazine.

Untitled-2Ford Muscle has supplied readers with valuable do-it-yourself editorials and extensive product reviews since 1999. “FordMuscle was established with the simple goal of making technical content available online to enthusiasts,” said Chirag Asaravala, founder of FordMuscle. “It will be in great hands with Power Automedia and I can’t think of a better team to take it to a new level in providing leading content for the next generation of Ford enthusiasts.”

“We are very committed to Ford enthusiasts, and we’ve got some exciting plans in the Ford Market,” said James Lawrence, Power Automedia CEO. “StangTV has been providing incredible editorial content, photos, and videos to Ford enthusiasts for over six years, but we’ve got some big things brewing. We’ve realized the Ford marketplace has a lot of layers – Coyote Mustang, Ecoboost, Ford Raptor, Pushrods, Modulars, Classics, and more.”

Mickey Thompson Tires recently contracted Power Studios to create a narrative lifestyle video on Danny’s Thompson’s record-setting efforts at Bonneville.

Brandon McCray, one of the leading videographers from Power Studio’s video team, traveled more than 700 miles to capture this once-in-a-lifetime event: Danny Thompson’s 400 MPH attempt at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Wendover, Utah. McCray attended the official “Speed Week” on August 11-14 to capture the Thompson team’s setup, qualifying runs, and return run.

The resulting video is spine-tingling and tells a story about the Thompson family that is a must-watch. Watch it below:

Known for his racing endeavors on the Bonneville salt flats, Mickey Thompson’s name became well known in the ‘60s for being the first American to break into the 400 MPH zone; but he never achieved his dream of officially entering the “400mph club.” Ever since Mickey’s death his son Danny has been chasing that unfulfilled dream of his father’s.

“It was crazy to think I was there to document something that could potentially be historical,” Power Studio’s McCray explained. “Since I was a kid, I’ve taken my dad’s Hot Rod magazines so I could check out the coverage from Bonneville. There is something about the idea of going as fast as you can that attracts a speed freak – attending that event had been something I wanted to do for years! It didn’t matter if you had a streamliner, a ‘30s Ford roadster, or a Honda Civic – people were there for the speed! For new and old car enthusiasts, it’s something you need to see at least once in your life.”

The vast expanse of salt flats includes both three courses and tracks, with the longest being five miles long with a three mile shut down. While many people were there in hopes of personal achievement, it is harder than it seems to hit that 200 mph mark. Danny Thompson made the attempt for more than five years to reach 200-plus mph, leaving the new goal of reaching 400 mph quite an undertaking for him and his team of volunteers.

Danny Thompson executed a 411 mph pass on his first Speed Week attempt with a 402 mph return pass – achieving an official 400 mph+ record at a qualifying average of 406.7 MPH. After 56 years of building, and many attempts, Danny said, “I’m proud to say that this weekend my crew and I were able to take care of my father’s unfinished business.”
